Marketing Specialist Job Description


This position is ideally suited for a superstar wanting to combine their creativity and strategic marketing skills in support of general operations and logistics for a fast paced and growing franchise business.  This is an opportunity to not only grow your knowledge of marketing and branding, but to also learn about the franchise business & fitness industry, working for the largest franchisee under the Planet Fitness concept, owning over 50 clubs throughout Connecticut, New York, New Mexico, Arizona, and Canada.  



Job Summary:

The Marketing Specialist position requires a broad range of skills and experience in support of key marketing objectives and goals. In addition to general administrative support of the marketing department, the position will be responsible for email, social media, digital, and direct mail campaigns.


  • Coordinate marketing communication and assists on implementation of all marketing related projects that include advertising, copy creation and generating brand awareness.
  • Work with manager to develop and execute multi-media communications strategy for key medias including direct mail, email, online, social media, in-store, etc.
  • Manage online campaigns and execute social networking strategy, delivering content via, Facebook, Google Advertising, etc.
  • Assemble and analyze research & sales forecasts; prepare marketing reports, plans, and objectives; plan and organize promotional presentations; manage campaign calendars & budgets.
  • Supports managerial staff by providing sales data, market trends, forecasts, account analyses, new product information; relaying customer services requests.
  • Researches competitors by identifying and evaluating characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintaining research databases.
  • Work with manager and business units to coordinate campaign budgets and manage expenses to that budget.
  • Assist PR Agency to deliver press releases, media relations content, case studies, white papers, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, social media content and speaking proposals.

  • Must be creative, self-motivated, proactive, intuitive, organized, flexible, deadline oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a professional demeanor are required.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, advertising, marketing, or related field.
  • 1-3 years related experience
  • Acrobat and other desktop publishing software
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proficiency with social media including planning, implementation and measurement
  • Proficiency utilizing email platforms, such as Sales Force
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including, but not limited to PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Proficiency in or aptitude to learn web design, video and other multi-media programs
  • Design Skills are not required but are considered a plus
